Target group
Users without special training and/or incomplete training in warp knitting (machine operators, staff from the sections machine maintenance, sales, agency, managers, junior staff for warp knitting)
Training prerequisites
Readiness for team work, good powers of comprehension as well as open-mindedness within a cross-cultural work group. Good command of English.
Training period
2 weeks
Topics of training course
1. Machines
- General machine information on the basis of the Karl Mayer machinery programme
- Construction, operating principles and interplay of the knitting elements
- Machine construction and technical features of tricot machines and Raschel machines
- Chain links and pattern discs
- Yarn feeding units, fabric take-up systems
2. All about fibres
- General survey, specific features of man-made fibres and natural fibres
- Applications, manufacture and/or preparation of synthetic fibres and natural fibres
- Examples of fabrics made of different fibres and yarns
3. Study of fabric constructions
- Designation/definition of the various types of bindings and lappings
- Basic stitch constructions in warp knitting
- Typical lappings and description possibilities of the loop structure
- Analysis of simple basic stitch constructions/patterns
- Preparation of chain notations
4. Textile calculations
- Dealing with different yarn count systems
- Number of yarn ends/threading, spacing/gauges and number of needles
- Calculation of yarn run-in values
- Production output and efficiency
- Calculation of warping length, sectional warp beams and guide bars
- Calculation of the fabric weight with different yarn percentages
5. Finishing
- Finishing methods for elastic and inelastic (rigid) warp knits presented
by means of examples
6. Practical works on training machines
- Set-up of analysed patterns on the machine
- Exercises for the threading of yarns on the machine
- Working with pattern chains and pattern discs
- Machine operation and trouble shooting (fault finding)
