As of 1st August, the KARL MAYER Academy has a permanent head again. The man in charge of the training centre at KARL MAYER Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH is Klaus Kunde who, for the last 25 years, has held responsible positions in well-known German companies specialising in the building and use of textile machines.
After studying textiles in Neumünster, where he specialised in warp and weft knitting, he began his working life as a newly qualified engineer at Sulzer Morat. As a test specialist, he was responsible for testing the electronically controlled circular weft knitting machines being used by clients all over the world. He was also involved in developing samples for producing modern sportswear and leisurewear. In his next job at Terrot Strickmaschinen GmbH, Klaus Kunde always kept a close eye on what was happening on the market. As the head of Applications Technology, he was responsible for every aspect of using the machines produced by this Stuttgart-based manufacturer, from the use of yarns and materials, through sample testing and the finishing processes, to the development of customer-specific solutions and fabric constructions. This experienced textile technologist was also in charge of training both clients and trainees at Terrot, and introduced a number of improvements to the training programmes based on his extensive technical experience.
The changes taking place on the market forced this weft knitting machine manufacturer to restructure its operations, and Klaus Kunde took on a new role when he became the marketing manager. This energetic and experienced specialist was responsible for organising and executing the company’s participation in trade fairs all over the world, presented papers on behalf of the company at international conferences, and wrote many technical articles.
With all his experience, Klaus Kunde is definitely well-equipped to take on his new role as head of the training centre!
