From the fibre to the final structural component
The company's own CFRP- Centre of Excellence makes its developments available to external companies via applications that are specific to KARL MAYER.
It therefore profits from the know-how and expertise of the entire company in producing reinforced composites from technical fibres. Since the 1990s, KARL MAYER has been developing and building precision machines for efficiently producing warp-knitted layer constructions, such as multiaxial structures. Its machines process the technical fibres gently and efficiently. They are easy to operate and produce products having an exceptional, reproducible quality – in short, this company is an expert in producing composites
from the fibre…to the structural component.
The specific aim of the CFRP Centre of Excellence is to develop system- integrated, adaptable solutions from technical fibres, such as carbon or glass.
We are producing fibre-reinforced, precision components having
- integrated functions
- defined thermal coefficient of expansion values, which can be set anywhere between negative and positive, including zero
- exceptional fatigue strength and
- a low density and mass.
Applications ( examples)
Developments that are already suitable for mass production include complex, profiled components having a length of up to 7 m and a predetermined temperature stability. Further examples include GFP-based leaf springs having an exceptionally long service life, and lightweight tappets with integrated functions.
